Suzanne has been working with us for a couple of years now and has become family❤️
When Sue isn’t working she will be hanging out with her dog @maxthe_dog_go her cat Artemis, they are so spoiled, they even get home cooked meals!
Sue is also very crafty, she makes all natural soaps, lotions and potions(I use her beard oil) she loves kids, babies and all furry creatures!🐈⬛🦮

Staff Intros! Hi I’m Nadine owner and CEO of the Salty Woodsman!
I grew up in The Black Forest of Germany where I spent my time hanging out with friends, family and travelling!
In 2015 I came to Vancouver Island on a work and travel stay where I ended up meeting Nile and Edgar and never looked back!
When I’m not at the store you can usually find me home with my animals, the ocean, dreaming about traveling(it’s way easier in Europe) lifting heavy weights with coach Lisa and amusing my husband with his projects🪱🥃😂

It’s time again for staff introductions starting with me so here goes🤘
Hi I’m Nile, CEO of The Salty Woodsman along with my wife Nadine!
15 years ago I injured myself in a quad accident that left me quadriplegic. After a year in hospital and rehab I came home to a new life.
I can’t sit around but that’s my reality so being unable to work I created my own job which I am only able to do with the help of my amazing staff and customers!❤️
I created a happy and safe place for me and my customers to hang out, laugh, vent, cry and be real with each other 🫶
Some favourite hobbies include anything with horsepower and 4 wheels, bonfires and gardening I hunt, I fish, I collect craft whiskies I live for my fur babies and I love travelling!
I also have a worm farm 😂
Some things I dislike are computers, vans(I’m tired of the pavement) and Fords 😂 jk
Thanks for being there for me on this wild roller coaster and we will be there for you and this town for many years to come because we are just getting started on this chapter!❤️🫶🫶

Every day is a struggle for a small business owner, the business comes first no matter what.
3 weeks ago Edgar was diagnosed with terminal cancer and we don’t know if we have until Christmas with him.
on Friday Emma was having breathing problems so we had to go to emergency. She ended up with pneumonia really bad and has to be bed rested for three weeks. She is starting to perk up and will be OK.❤️
We will be OK but this shit is fucking hard. 🥹
That being said, we are going to run our sale for another day and while you’re at it, maybe check out a couple of other small businesses too because we are all struggling here in Port Alberni❤️

People often ask us how we are doing at the new location? The answer is good, but I’ll tell you a short story.
I am unable to work a normal job for obvious reasons so we started this business in our garage during the pandemic. It went really well for a couple years until we were forced to move due to a complaint because we don’t have city water to mop the floor.
in November 20 22, we moved to River Road full of excitement and simply failed for 2 years due to a number of reasons.
Hoping it would get better we hung on and waited, changed tactics and tried everything we can think of while accumulating a massive pile of debt. Failed.
last year our lease was up so we made a two day decision to move into the middle of nowhere without a plan. We took loans from friends and family plus a couple more credit cards and went all in.
Everything was on the line including our house at that point.
During the last year, there has been some ups and downs, but loans are getting paid down and the business is growing into what we imagined it could be!
With Christmas coming and deadlines to meet, we’ve put everything we have into getting the store filled with a guaranteed return in December but both of our dogs got sick last week to the tune of $10,000 and still not in the clear.
This Mon/Tues we are offering 15% off everything in store to kick off the holiday season, to save you some money, to help my dogs and keep this dream alive for many more years.
